Terms and Conditions

GENERAL RULES:

In order to attend the Hackathon, the participant will have to fill up the online form and submit the app idea to be eligible to be called for the event. Mere filling up the online form shall not entitle an applicant to get an invitation to attend the event. The Organizer reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all applicants before inviting them.

  • App ideas to be submitted before the submission deadline for the respective cities.
  • Published ideas will be reviewed by the jury to qualify for the contest.
  • Only the apps ideas meeting the quality guidelines will be eligible.
  • Quality Guidelines and Criteria include the following:
    • App should not be static or should not have static content.
    • RSS feeds are not eligible
    • Apps created using XWAB are not eligible
    • UX should be followed. Please refer to below links that provide helpful guidelines to have an acceptable UX and proper visibility.

    • The app needs to have a "Do Good" element in it (see the three themes), and it needs to serve a real life need.
    • Innovative. First-to-Market.
    • Not already published in app stores.
    • Supports key features as they become available (for example maps, location-awareness, camera, near-field communications, accelerometer, Live Tiles, push notification, in-app purchase, in-app advertising, in-app analytic, try-buy, and subscriptions).
    • Design elegance, technical quality and performance (proto, mock-up, design documents).
    • Potential to drive momentum (promoting mobile user experience, new areas of mobile usage, mobile business innovation etc.)
    • The main prize is that the winner of each hackathon gets access to App Campus program. However, the app needs to fulfill App Campus requirements, which includes that a WP version needs to be developed.
    • Selected developers should bring their own laptop on the day of the Hackathon with the appropriate SDK pre downloaded.
  • The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entry which does not comply with the requirements/framework of this event.
  • Any extra cost incurred during the stay (including private excursions, private staying, private transport costs, private meals etc.) will neither be borne by the Sponsor nor by the Organizer.
  • Participant has to make demo presentations (functional/semi functional on simulators) before the jury showcasing their apps on the day of the Hackathon.
  • By demonstrating an application (functional/semi functional) on the day of event, a participant enacts and authorizes that (a) the application is the participants own original work and (b) the participant is the owner of or has obtained and currently holds valid and sufficient rights to the application, including all necessary intellectual property rights and will not infringe on the copyright or intellectual property of others.
  • The decision of Organizer and Sponsor will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained on the same.
  • No substitution or transfer of prize by the winner is permitted. The participant would be solely responsible for any and all taxes and tax liability on prizes / awards. Participants may be required to sign and return releases of liability, declarations of eligibility, and where lawful, publicity consent agreements.
  • The Sponsor or Organizer will not provide any warranty on the prizes. To the fullest extent allowable by law, both parties specifically disclaim any representations or warranties, expressed or implied, regarding the prizes, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and implied warranties arising from course of dealing or course of performance.
  • The Sponsor and the Organizer accepts no liability for any technical difficulties affecting the end result of the event.
  • The affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and employees of the Organizer, Sponsor and their immediate families are not allowed to participate in the event.
  • The Sponsor retains all rights and control over the event, criteria of judging the applications, the award of prizes in any grounds it deems suitable.
  • The Rules and Regulations are subject to change by the Organizer when necessary. The Organizer reserves the rights to amend the rules of the event without prior announcement.
  • The Sponsor and Organizer reserves the right to withdraw or discontinue with the event at any stage without any liability whatsoever to the participant and, or, anyone.
